EVOSS Project

The overall goal of EVOSS is to develop and demonstrate a pre-operational portfolio of GMES-Kopernikus Downstream Services, based on Earth Observation data and products, to monitor volcanic hazards at a global scale.

EVOSS is situated downstream from GMES Core Services to be provided by the preliminary GMES projects PREVIEW, and its successor SAFER. It uses newly developed space technology to optimize volcano monitoring capacity in Europe, Africa and lesser Antilles, and  exploits the synergetic potential of Radar and InfraRed observation from platforms in Polar and Geostationary orbits.

EVOSS team is currently preparing and tuning-up the World Virtual Orbiting Volcano Observatory system for the real-size online demonstration that will start (on the whole test area!) on the 1st of March and will last one year.
